Honestly for now, the character of the tuner is unobtrusive enough that I notice mostly the problems I have with the preamplifier and the electricity. However, I would be interested about what you had thought at this point to be ...

The stereo lab store prices seem very reasonable, considering the cost and work of molds making, shipping is something else altogether, another factor yet, but my question always comes back to the tractrix curve, there is always a loss ...

This weekend wife told me that I should not do nothing else
but to fix my playback and this was exactly what I wanted to do. Yesterday I took
good 14 hours to play with it, moving boxes, trying to find a good
configuration, making measurements, th...
Well, I'll stick my neck out and tell you what I think. I would say that it sounds right now that you have a kind of undefined idea of how you understand the sounds of audio reproduction. Sort of on the level that you ...

I find an interring house that I like. Ironically it is very much not what I was looking audio-wise. It has a lot of real-estate lucidness and I feel it has a lot of very interesting audio opportunities. The listening room is small, 2 times small...

Hello Romy,I should have made myself more clear about the paragraph you quoted. Typical situations:a. The arm is installed on a deck that accomodates more than one arm. The listener, if lucky, has two(for all intents and purposes) identical cartridge...
I want to listen to both 12db/octave and 6db/octave passive versions and see which one sounds better. And keep the one that sounds better.
Herman,
It depends what you would like to listen. If you would like to ...

I don't think you can align the tapped horn. My tapped horn has a total length around 5 metres. To time align that with my other drivers, its got to be around 5 metres closer than others. The only other solution is delaying the rest of the channels.....

Now that the preliminary excitement of my ingenious idea wore off, I'm ready to share it and accept the harsh reality of any shortcomings... but seriously.
For a while now, I've been been working on optimally integrating my 3 channel...
Hey guys, I bought the Goto 505TT with S150 horn brand new over 2 years ago. Guess what? I'd still be in sonic shit if I followed the 200-1000hz "recommendation". The 505TT does not perform well below 400hz and when I final...

Well, I do not see anything wrong with what anyone has said so far and I do not see the cause of disagreement or the angry "dog-barking" for this forum. I hope that we can compose ourselves and retain some decorum, not stooping to AA levels her...

Well, what can I say, there is no surprise but the more and more I went into anal-retentiveness of time-aliment the more interesting result I got. Unfortunately with my the frame of my Macondo I was not able to go at the 1/12dB precision, I was able ...

now THAT is the kind of instruction in critical listening that gives you some real guideposts for making your system sound right! romy, i believe you have honestly set a new standard... i have a 2 way system, so i can't use the exact instr...
The line-level crossovers work against fixed impedance and therefore the crossover point and the time alignment does not fluctuate along with reactance of the drivers.
Okay, maybe this is a dumb question, but why wou...

Glad to hear your bigger family is doing well and that you are making good progress on the room. Why not try a quick test. Try connecting your laptop to the big system, put the laptop a few feet in front of you and watch a movie or a concert? That wil...

Thinking about the integration scenarios of my midbass horn I come to a realization that it highly possible that the horn in THIS room will do something very unique. I have wrote before that I was successful to set channels delayed but the delay ...

Regarding vertical convergence :
I have often wondered about the effects of arranging horns vertically, such that their output converges relative to each other, toward a single point at a given height above the floor. I have seen Wilson Audio do...

What is sitting on floor inside of left bass radaitor? Looks like two bullet tweeters? I assume he is just putting them there for storage as there is nothing inside right channel. He must be getting a lot of sound out of the back of those woofers righ...
Ming would like to provide this custom basshorn service to his customers in the US market.. Goto Japan has nothing to do with this...
Very cool, the more “hornier” the better as far as I concern.

Maybe I don't know what DPOLS is, as suggested by others in this forum. All I know is that I can spend a lot of time fiddling with the exact location of the speakers, the sepcific 3 dimensional alignment of the two sets of drivers, and there is...

KS, I am not following what is your problem is. The “big bass box” is unknown height. Let say that it is it 36” then it will have MF sitting about it. The lower midrange horn with 800hz crossover pint is sitting above MF. So, everything is fine as fa...

Ming, did you consider to hang your upper bass horn that screws everything up at the very top of the room and then nicely position the MF channels according to the rules of time alignment instead of the rules of warehouse storage? You might also cons...

Ha! You're either old or you read too much. There was also Arnie Nudell. Back to Bob Fulton, he never made 2 "statement" speakers alike! I actually owned E modulars from him. They were +/- the same as the Js, but with smaller subs. Ironically (cons...

Nice posts Romy and Jan, agree almost 100%. I've heard the Behringer in an originally crummy system and it butchered things completely. The input levels were low, which as you point out, won't have helped at all.On a vaguely related note: I dunno if ...

Romy,I was really shocked when I saw this idea of yours. It is a trade off of course with improved control over narrower frequncy bands being traded for axial symmetry. Yet because the position of the drivers is so very important, I am so...
Integrating multiple amplifier sections and drivers is always a challenge. Doing it with different topologies and OPTs adds some additional complexity due to the difference in response characteristics. Crossover design...

Bud, perhaps it does makes sense to try the “dotizm” one again. I quite severely review my view on the way in wish I use tweeter. I still am trying to make T350 to work, let see what I end up with. Nowadays my T350 sitting in 3rd order crossover, it ...
Here is pretty much the idea that I had – a very tall line array with min footprint and with more of less corrected timing error by angling the front baffle. At the picture below the curvature of positioning of Macondo chan...

but I get the point. The remaining question is then, how can one tweak, modulate, control, or shape the response of the system or the speakers to really become more accurate to the original "meaningful music"? For my own experience I know w...
